The next monthly meeting will be held at noon on
Tuesday, Sept. 20. Our guest speaker will be Margo Metzger with
VIsit NC. Margo can
share some of her agency's PR methods, as well as discuss how Hurricane Irene
impacted their work and the work of the tourism industry. Our meeting will take
place once again in the third floor conference room of the Archives and History
Building on Jones Street. As always, bring your lunch. If you plan on attending, please let Peggy Beach know via e-mail. Monthly meetings On the third Tuesday of each month, NCAGIO members gather to enjoy a brownbag lunch and hear from outside speakers. The meetings are usually held in the Albert Coates Local Government Center, located at 215 N. Martin Tuesday, September 15, 2009 Investigate Reporter Stuart Watson Stuart Watson began reporting for WCNC-TV in 1999. He is a three-time winner of the coveted George Foster Peabody Award, a two-time winner of the IRE (Investigative Reporters & Editors) Award, a winner of the duPont-Columbia Silver Baton and a winner of three Emmys for Investigative Reporting. Watson won his most recent Peabody for an investigation of the Medicaid Dental Centers. He comes to WCNC-TV from WRAL-TV in Raleigh, where he spent four years as an Investigative Reporter. It was during his tenure there that he won his second Peabody Award (1998) for an investigation of military malpractice. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 A Tour of Fort Bragg Tom McCollum, Public Affairs Officer for the Fort Bragg Garrison, will meet NCAGIO members at 10 a.m. for a windshield tour of Fort Bragg, followed by lunch at the mess hall, then a disaster briefing. On the tour, stops will be made where Fort Bragg has engaged media on various subjects, and you will learn why those locations were chosen.
